Wanted fugitive arrested in Lexington

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Lexington Police say a wanted fugitive was arrested Monday, but not before hitting two police cruisers following a traffic stop. Investigators with the Lexington Police Department’s Violent Crimes Task Force in conjunction with the Lexington Police Narcotics Unit, the Bureau of Patrol and the United States Marshal’s Task Force say they saw wanted fugitive, 22-year old Chaise Berryman, driving in the area of New Circle Road and Liberty Road shortly after 2:00 p.m.

Investigators say a traffic stop was initiated at which point Berryman put his vehicle in reverse and hit the police cruiser parked behind his vehicle as the officer approached him. Police say Berryman then tried to drive forward and collided with a second police car, which disabled Berryman’s vehicle and caused moderate damage to the police cruiser.

No officers were injured. Berryman was taken to the hospital for a medical evaluation for a prior medical procedure before being taken to jail. Police say Berryman’s passenger, 23-year old Devaun Robertson, was arrested and charged with Possession of a Handgun by a Felon, Trafficking in a Controlled Substance and Possession of Marijuana. He was also taken to jail.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with additional information is asked to call Lexington Police at 859-258-3600 or 859-258-3700 or Bluegrass Crime Stoppers at 859-253-2020. You can also submit tips online at www.bluegrasscrimestoppers.com.
