Deputies: Laurel school put on lockdown, principal assaulted

LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ) – Deputies say a Laurel County school was put on lockdown after a man ran into the building, and later attacked the principal.

The sheriff’s office says the man is mentally disabled, and lives at a group home called ‘Inspired Living.’ Investigators say he assaulted the vice director of the facility this morning, striking her in the back of the head. Deputies say the man then left, and ran into the nearby Cold Hill Elementary.

According to deputies, he attacked the principal when he was forced to leave the school. The sheriff’s office says the suspect was arrested in front of the school.

The sheriff’s office says the principal had head and leg injuries.
