Does Cal feel embraced by Solid Blue fans?

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – It’s players first at Kentucky.

I know we say it a lot, but that’s what Cal pushes.

UK isn’t about the name on the front.

It’s about the name on the back.

That was tough for a lot of Solid Blue fans to swallow early on.  It’s still tough for some to swallow now.

But for the most part, Cal thinks the folks around here have come to accept him and his philosophies.

Why wouldn’t they?  It’s working. Right?

UK is in the mix for the national championship every year. The Cats will be in the mix for a title again this season. Kentucky is “the” program in college hoops.

It’s the “gold standard” in all of college athletics as Cal likes to say.

While most fans accept the way things are now, one-and-done players and all…not all of them do.

What does Cal have to say to those fans?

“There’s some of those out there,” Cal said in a preseason interview at the Joe Craft Center. “I don’t know if they’re on drugs, cocaine, drunk or just totally delusional.”
