Animal shelter at capacity, overwhelmed by 29 more dogs

LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ) –  The Laurel County Animal Shelter says it desperately needs the public’s help after it took in 29 dogs Thursday night.

Officials say the shelter was already at capacity before taking the dogs and may have to euthanize some animals to make room. Volunteers at the shelter are reaching out to other rescue groups to take some of the dogs. The shelter says, five of the dogs are adult Rottweilers and are ready for adoption. However they say, some of the other dogs that were brought in have medical needs that must be addressed before they can be adoption-ready.

The cost for adopting dogs is $100 and $65 for cats. The price includes spaying, neutering and vaccinations. If you are interested in adopting an animal, you can call or stop by the Laurel County Animal Shelter located at :
