Fayette County man charged with murder from 1999

FAYETTEVILLE, W.Va. (AP) – A grand jury has charged a Fayette County man with murder in connection with the 1999 slaying of another man.

Fayette County prosecutor Larry Harrah said Wednesday that 44-year-old Alfred Clinton Toney is accused of killing 24-year-old Jonathan Wesley Skaggs.

Harrah says in a news release that Skaggs’ charred remains were found at residence in the Dempsey Branch area several days after he was reported missing in August 1999.

Harrah did not provide details. He says the rules of criminal procedure limit the amount of information that he can release regarding the case.

It was immediately clear whether Toney has an attorney.
