Garbage Collection Day Moved

The Division of Waste Management, Lexington, adjusted its collection schedule for the Labor Day holiday on Monday, Sept. 7th.

Residents who normally receive Monday pick-up from the division will receive their collection service on Wednesday, Sept. 9th.

No collection will be made on the holiday. Residents who normally receive residential pick-up on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays will be serviced as usual.

Residents who normally receive Monday pick-up should set their Herbies, Rosies and Lennies out after 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 8th to ensure collection the next day.

Businesses that have city waste management services for their dumpsters (landfill-bound and recycling) normally receiving pick-up on Mondays will have their units picked up on Tuesday, Sept. 8th. Businesses normally having pick-ups on Tuesdays will have their units serviced on Wednesday, Sept. 9th. Thursday and Friday pick-ups will be made as usual.

“The Division of Waste Management has developed this holiday make-up schedule to best serve the residents, schools, businesses, churches and apartments of Lexington when holidays occur,” stated Tracey Thurman, Division Director. “Every day, the many men and women who make up our division strive to bring you quality service, ensuring our City is as safe as it is clean.”

Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government offices, as well as the Lexington Recycling Center, the City’s Electronic Recycling Center and the Haley Pike Waste Management Facility will be closed on the holiday.
