Pellet guns confiscated at Leestown Middle School

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – The principal of Leestown Middle School sent a letter to parents Wednesday, informing them that two students arrived at the school with pellet guns.

In the letter, Principal Cynthia Lawson says school faculty were tipped off that the students had the guns at the bus stop.  She says the toy guns were confiscated quickly, and that "appropriate and serious action" was taken.

"We have contacted the families of the students involved," she continues, "and we are committed to keeping Leestown Middle School a safe place to learn and work."

Principal Lawson is reminding parents and students that even toy guns are not allowed on campus, and urging parents to monitor what their children are putting in their backpacks.
