Foul play suspected in infant death in Carroll Co.

According to investigators, they received a call around 10:30 a.m. Wednesday from the Carroll Co. Memorial Hospital about a baby who had died.  Detectives say when they got there they learned that the 4-day old boy was brought to the hospital by the mother and father.  Officers say the parents told them the child had stopped breathing.

Investigators say they suspect foul play in the death.  The father and mother, 33-year-old Jarod Martin and 29-year-old Lisa Payton, were charged with criminal abuse and taken to the Carroll Co. Detention Center.  An autopsy and toxicology examination has been scheduled.
