Russell Co. deputy killed in car crash

ALBANY, Ky. (WTVQ) – The Russell Co. Sheriff’s Department is reporting the death of Sheriff’s Deputy Shawn Cook in a car crash.

The Sheriff’s Office says it happened Monday, August 17, just after 1:00 p.m. about 3 miles west of Albany on the new bypass.  It was a three-car accident, say investigators, and that Cook was off-duty and driving his personal vehicle.

Deputy Cook had served as a Court Security & Transport Deputy since 2010. He had also served the community as a member of the Russell Springs Fire Department for several years.
