UPDATE: Carjacking suspect name released

RICHMOND, Ky. (WTVQ) – The Madison Co. Coroner has released the name of a man police say stole a car with a baby inside, ran from authorities, and then shot himself.

The coroner says the man is 35-year-old Sidney Wayne Fee of Berea.  The coroner says Fee died of a single gunshot wound to the head.  An autopsy is being done Thursday in Frankfort.

Deputies say Wednesday afternoon Fee stole a Hyundai Santa Fe from a Pilot gas station on Cherry Blossom Way in Georgetown. Witnesses say a young boy was pumping gas into the SUV when Fee came up, pushed him out of the way and stole the car. Deputies say an 8-month-old baby was inside the Santa Fe when Fee drove off.

Investigators say several law enforcement agencies chased the SUV. They say Fee eventually crashed the vehicle in Madison County, then got out and ran off. According to state police, the Fee later shot himself in the head.

The child in the car was unharmed.
