KY Receives $2 Million Grant For Women Affected By Violence

The State of Kentucky announced on Monday that it has received a $1.9 million grant for women whom have been affected by violence.

According to Justice and Public Safety Cabinet Secretary, J. Michael Brown, the funding is available for public safety grants through the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) and the Service, Training, Officers, Prosecution (STOP) program.

The grant will be used to give support to victims of domestic violence, dating violence, stalking, and sexual assault.

Money will be distributed to public agencies and not-for-profit organizations that apply for the funding.

All applications are due by October 15, 2012. Applications must be submitted online at the Kentucky Justice Grants Management System.

The Justice and Public Safety Cabinet will announce the grant recipients in January 2013.
