Richmond woman dies after parking lot accident

RICHMOND, Ky. (WTVQ) – Richmond police say an accident in the Kroger parking lot at Richmond Plaza fatally injured a woman.

According to officers, around 1:30 p.m. a car backing from a parking space hit 89-year old Christine Blakeman.  The car continued moving, eventually hitting another car and pinning Blakeman between them.  Police say Blakeman was taken to UK hospital with a head injury and a severe burn.  The Fayette Co. Coroner says Blakeman died about 4:41 p.m. later that day.

Police are still investigating the cause of the accident.
