Former Kentucky State Police Trooper accepts plea bargain

SMITHLAND, Ky. (AP) — A former Kentucky State Police Trooper charged with having inappropriate contact with a minor during a traffic stop in Grand Rivers has accepted a plea bargain.

The Paducah Sun (http://bit.ly/1LtCzc7 ) reports that Donald Crawford was scheduled to stand trial Tuesday for two counts of official misconduct and one count of attempted witness tampering in Livingston District Court.

Instead, Crawford pleaded guilty to an amended charge of first-degree disorderly conduct. The attempted witness tampering charge was dismissed.

As part of the plea bargain, Crawford, who was sentenced to one year in jail, will serve 30 days followed by two years of probation.

Crawford, who was a trooper for nine years, resigned last August after he was accused of having inappropriate contact with a Marshall County juvenile during a traffic stop.
