Deputies: Man injured in crash admits to using meth
The sheriff’s office says the collision happened around 9:45 Thursday morning on Russell Dyche Memorial Highway (Ky 80), about 9 miles west of London. Deputies say the driver, 35-year-old Lonny Chaney of Science Hill, traveled into the passing lane, then went off the road and hit an embankment. Investigators say the truck then landed on its side.
Chaney reportedly told investigators he takes medications, and also uses street drugs including methamphetamine, heroin, and cocaine.
The sheriff’s office says he was airlifted to U.T. hospital with serious injuries. Deputies say Chaney was charged with traffic violations including operating a motor vehicle under the influence- second offense, and operating on a suspended or revoked operators license.
