Corbin fitness center pool pump failure hospitalizes 11

CORBIN, Ky. (AP) – A pool pump failure at a Corbin fitness center has been blamed for the hospitalization of 11 people.

The Times-Tribune (http://bit.ly/1GRpCB2 ) reports that people inside the Baptist Health Family Fitness pool were hospitalized on Wednesday morning after they began to experience respiratory problems.

In a statement, Baptist Health Corbin hospital says chemical fumes were released into the air after the pool pump was restarted while a swimming class was taking place. A chlorine leak had initially been suspected.

According to the hospital, all 11 patients have since been released.
