Hot dogs soon to be chilled: Fundraising success

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Lexington Humane Society has surpassed their fundraising goal for the replacement HVAC, and will be able to replace the 20-ton air conditioning unit to keep their dogs cool.

Due to the generous outpouring of support from the local community, the $35,000 fundraising goal was surpassed the day after it opened, and has now reached $38,400. The Humane Society says that all donations beyond their initial goal will go toward their “Future Fund." This fund, they said, will go toward maintaining and repairing the building, in order to care for their 4,000 animals in the future.

Many of the donations came with a short message, some praising the work of the Humane Society, while others thanked them for their adopted pet or made their donation in memory of an animal friend who had passed away.
