Students learn rescue skills in fire school
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ)- State Fire School continues this weekend in Lexington.
Students and instructors from all over Kentucky have been taking part. Saturday’s training included truck operations, mayday, forcible entry and many other hands on skills.
The future firefighters also got experience with thermal imaging. We caught up with a couple of them to talk about their time at the fire school.
"My dad’s been a fireman for 18 years in Paris and Cynthiana. He’s my inspiration to do it. I’m just trying to follow his footsteps," says Tyler, a student from Cynthiana.
"You get to help save lives, you get to fight fires. It’s something since I was a little kid I wanted to be a firefighter and now I get a chance to be a junior firefighter and it’s been awesome," says Cameron from Fleming County.
