KSP: Fatal mining accident in Pike County

PHELPS, Ky. (WTVQ) — Kentucky State Police are still investigating Apex Mining’s fatal accident, which occurred on Thursday, May 28.

45-year-old Roy Mullins of Mouthcard was attaching a chain from a grader to a tractor trailer, says Public Affairs Officer Steven Mounts, before the event occurred.

Investigators say the grader had rolled back into the tractor, pinning Mullins between the heavy equipment. Mullins was pronounced dead at the scene, by Pike County Coroner Russell Roberts.

This accident is still under investigation by State Police.
