Men say fake cops robbed them in home invasion
James Carie says his husband Orvis Kean went outside to walk one of their dogs around 11:30 p.m. on Wednesday. He says Kean saw two men in a green sports utility vehicle and knew something was not right.
Carie says Kean ran up the stairs but was chased by two men. He says he got inside the apartment, locked the door and yelled for Carie to help him hold the door shut.
Carie says the two men started yelling, saying they had a search warrant, claiming to be the police. He says he asked for them to show a badge and they never did.
They eventually kicked in the door, according to Carie. He says there was a struggle and that one of the suspects pointed a gun at both of them. Carie also says both Carie and Kean were punched at least twice.
Carie says costume jewelry, his wallet and prescription pills were stolen before the suspects took off.
He says Kean, a few neighbors and their dog Precious chased the suspects outside. According to Carie, they saw them take off in the green SUV.
Carie says he got a fraud alert from his bank on Thursday saying there had been an attempted charge on his credit card for more than $450.00 at Walmart. He says he hopes the store had surveillance footage that could help police.
