Man shot during robbery attempt in Lexington

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Getting out of his car almost cost one Lexington man his life.

Lexington police say a man was getting out of his car in the parking lot of an apartment complex on Codell Drive just before 1:30 a.m. Wednesday when he was approached by four men.

Police say the victim told them the suspects demanded his wallet and when he wouldn’t give it to them, one of the suspects shot him.

The suspects then ran off.

Police say the victim was taken to the hospital, suffering from a gunshot wound to the abdomen.

They say his injuries are not life-threatening.

Police are still searching for the suspects.
