LPD Records: Shootings down in 2015
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – According to Lexington Police records obtained by ABC 36 News, shootings, that result in a person injured or killed, are down in 2015.
To date, in 2015, there have been 19 shootings resulting in 3 homicides in Lexington, records say.
According to those same records, from January 1 to May 1, 2014, Lexington saw 28 shootings, resulting in four homicides.
The Lexington Police Department says the city has recently seen a couple of cases that have been jarring to the community, and that is why they believe that the public perceives that crime is up.
Lexington Police say that they are stepping up patrols in identified problem areas. Besides saying families would see an increased police presence, officials would not go into specifics on the patrols
