Lexington father catches burglary suspect
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – A Lexington homeowner says he chased a man down Thursday morning after catching him stealing from the family car. The homeowner says he then held the alleged thief until police could arrest the suspect.
Kunté Hayes says he walked into his garage around 4:30 a.m. and saw someone moving in the passenger seat of one of the family’s cars.
Hayes says when he yelled, the man ran off. Hayes says he then chased the alleged thief to Oakhurst Lane, which is the street in front of the Hayes home. He says there was a slight struggle before he brought the suspect to the ground.
Police say the alleged thief was Johnny Lee Bruner. He was arrested on burglary charges.
A judge entered a not guilty plea for Bruner Thursday afternoon. Bruner is due back in court April 28th.
