28-mile police pursuit ends with three arrests

SOMERSET, Ky. (WTVQ) – Somerset police say what started as a shoplifting report ended as a high speed pursuit that crossed through two counties Sunday.

According to officers, they got a report that two females were shoplifting at the Somerset Mall.  When police arrived, they say mall employees told them the women had left in a 2001 red Pontiac Grand Prix.

Officers spotted the vehicle, and they say the driver took off and tried to get away.  Investigators say the chase went on for 28-miles, with the driver running other cars off the road and hitting speeds of 100 mph and more.  Police say they were finally able to stop the car in Laurel Co.

The three people in the car, 30-year old Chris Holbrrok, 46-year-old Rhonda Coleman, and 21-year-old Ashley Muncy were arrested without incident.  They were taken to the Pulaski Co. Detention Center.
