UPDATE: Family comes forward in dog dragging case
LONDON, Ky. (WTVQ) – A Laurel Co. court is trying to decide whether or not to press criminal charges in the case of a dog who was dragged behind a truck.
The Sheriff’s Office says the dog’s owner’s son tied the animal to his father’s truck without him knowing and the father drove away, dragging and killing the dog. Deputies say the man told them he thought the dog was dead and left him on the side of the road because he had to go to work, but planned on going back for the body.
The dog was found in a ditch off of Hwy. 1006 Tuesday morning. Laurel Co. Sheriff’s Office and Laurel Co. Animal Control were able to load the injured animal, and take him to the Cumberland Valley Animal Hospital, where he died of his injuries. A $5,000 reward for information on who was responsible has been withdrawn.
