AmeriCorps team working at state parks, nearby communities
CORBIN, Ky. (AP) — Two Kentucky State Parks and nearby communities are getting a helping hand from eight young people from the AmeriCorps National Civilian Community Corps program.
The state Parks Department says the team started at Cumberland Falls State Resort Park and heads to Carter Caves State Resort Park next.
The team members are 18 to 24 years old and are trained in safety skills. They are from all across the U.S.
They are repairing trails, removing invasive plants, cleaning out caves and working on other improvement projects.
This is the third year that Kentucky State Parks has hosted an AmeriCorps team.
