Parents charged with manslaughter in death of child

HINDMAN, Ky. (AP) — Kentucky State Police say the parents of an eastern Kentucky girl have been arrested in her death.

The Perry County coroner told media that 2-month-old Angel Newsome was pronounced dead Wednesday after her parents, 19-year-old Joseph Newsome and 21-year-old Ashley Newsome, called first responders to their home in Knott County.

The child was taken to a hospital in Hazard and police say they arrested her parents shortly afterward on a charge of manslaughter.

The coroner says an autopsy is scheduled on Thursday to determine the infant’s cause of death.
