Laurel County teen killed after being hit by train

LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ)- Deputies in Laurel County say a 17-year-old boy was hit and killed by a train early Saturday morning.

They say it happened around 3 a.m. near Lily. Family members, on social media, identified the teen as William Walters. Deputies say the teen was camping with a cousin and brother at the time of the accident.

Deputies say the other two had gone to get firewood when the accident happened. They say the train operator saw the teen on the tracks but couldn’t stop in time.
