Corbin copes with flash flooding

CORBIN, Ky. (WTVQ)- Southern Kentucky had thunderstorms this morning. Some places saw a radar-estimated two inches of rain falling in two hours.

That rain overwhelmed the drainage system in Corbin. It led to flooded streets and parking lots. There was at least one car stalled on Master Street.

Corbin Police Department Major Rob Jones said, "When you try to go through standing water, normally if your car does die out, you’re actually going to have damage to your car. People actually need to seek an alternative route if you do see standing water."

There was also high water at the Corbin Walmart near I-75. Parts of its parking lot were blocked off due to high standing water through the afternoon.
