Factory fire in Morehead keeps crews busy for hours

Morehead, KY (WTVQ) – A fire at a factory in Morehead kept crews busy all day, after it sparked not once but twice.

The first fire at Guardian Industries started around 11:30 a.m. according to Morehead’s emergency manager.

Ronnie Day says the fire was in the vent system on the roof.  He says aerial ladders were used by firefighters to help them access the roof.

Day says maintenance workers and managers were inside the plant when the fire started, but they were all evacuated safely and no one was hurt.

Emergency management says the first fire was put out around 4:30 p.m., but that there must have been a hot spot in the vent system.  They say once the factory turned on the air, the fire ignited just 15 minutes later.  That fire has since been put out.
