Scott County students learn through ‘Truth or Consequences’

GEORGETOWN, Ky. (WTVQ) – A ‘Truth or Consequences’ demonstration was held Thursday at Royal Spring Middle School in Scott County.  The program gave each student a bad choice involving drugs or alcohol.

The students then listened to someone who had to deal with a similar situation in real life.  A survivor from the Carrollton bus crash, that killed 24-children and three adults in 1988, told his story in a powerful message to the kids.

"Never drink and drive.  The kids need to understand that there are consequences for things that we do, especially drinking and driving.  You know, Larry Mahoney caused the nation’s worst drunk driving crash just by taking a drink, so I’m hoping this impacts their lives," said Quinton Higgins, Carrollton bus crash survivor.

Police officers, funeral directors and recovering addicts were just some of the people who talked to the students as part of the program.
