Newport Aquarium foundation receives gift for trips, classes

NEWPORT, Ky. (AP) — A northern Kentucky entertainment center has given $10,000 to Newport Aquarium’s nonprofit partner foundation, providing funds that will allow underprivileged schoolchildren to visit the aquarium and take marine biology classes.

The aquarium and the WAVE Foundation said in a news release that the gift from Newport on the Levee this week will go toward the foundation’s Price Charities grant to fund the aquarium visits and classes for disadvantaged youth.

The release said the Price Charities grant to date has underwritten more than 20,000 underprivileged students from about 70 schools in the northern Kentucky and Cincinnati areas.
