Crews Continue Efforts to Clear The Roads

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – People are trying to get out and about, but the extra snow isn’t making it easy.

Local streets are still mostly covered. The transportation cabinet hired several contract plow operators to help speed up clearing the roads.  They their focus has been to keep the interstates and main arteries clear.

Lexington police have helped more than 460 stuck and stranded motorists since Monday.  17 safe patrol trucks were also deployed to the interstates by the transportation cabinet.

Temperatures are expected to continue to drop, making it difficult for the snow to melt.  Crews are scheduled to continue working 12- hour shifts to clear the roads.  Authorities are asking drivers to avoid the roads if at all possible.
