Car crash victim may have been Woodford Co. student
LEXINGTON, KY. (WTVQ) – Lexington Police say two vehicles were traveling inbound on Versailles Road Monday afternoon, when they hit each other. The two cars then crossed the median, hitting a third car, according to police. The accident killed one person.
The Fayette County Coroner said the license plate of the car the victim was traveling in melted in the fiery crash, making it difficult to identify the person.
Tuesday morning, Woodford County Schools Superintendent Scott Hawkins said all evidence points to the fact the victim was a student at Woodford County High School. Therefore, the school brought in extra counselors and social workers from across the district into the high school to help students and staff members deal with the situation.
Hawkins said, "In many cases, students, because of their age, may not have experienced a loss of somebody close to them or the loss of a classmate, and we want to be able to help them through the grieving process."
Hawkins said the extra support staff will stay at the high school for as long as they are needed.
The Fayette County Coroner has not released the name of the victim in Monday’s car crash.
