Madisonville man arrested after allegedly dragging trooper behind car
State police arrested a Madisonville man after he allegedly ran from a safety checkpoint.
Investigators say they had asked 39-year old Owen W. Gamblin to get out of his car to conduct a roadside interview. They say that, instead, Gamblin took off, dragging Trooper Jonathon Ward along for a short distance.
State police say they pursued Gamblin a short distance before he lost control of the car and hit a utility pole guide wire at KY 813 and KY 1215. Troopers say they were able to get him out of the car and he was arrested.
Gamblin was charged with DUI, possession of marijuana and drug parephernalia, and wanton endangerment, among other charges. Trooper Ward was taken to Baptist Health Madisonville where he was treated and released.
