Teen survives 300-foot fall from Ky. cliff

TATEVILLE, Ky. (AP) — Rescuers say a south-central Kentucky teen is lucky to be alive after falling 300 feet from the edge of a cliff.

The Commonwealth Journal (http://bit.ly/1ILcxQD) reports 15-year-old Zachary Wilson was out hunting for raccoons with friends on Sunday night when he made a misstep and went over the cliff in Pulaski County along Lake Cumberland.

Pulaski County Public Safety Director Tiger Robinson says it took responders five hours to rescue him. He said Wilson had to be lowered another 150 feet where a boat was waiting to take him to the shore.

Wilson’s aunt, Melissa Decker, said the boy’s coat caught on a limb as he was falling and held him until rescuers arrived.

She says he is recovering from injuries, but it’s "a miracle from God that he’s alive."
