Kentucky Kingdom operators seeking incentives rebate
FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) — The Kentucky Tourism Development Finance Authority is meeting Wednesday to consider Kentucky Kingdom’s application for financial incentives valued at up to $3.75 million.
The Courier-Journal (http://cjky.it/14YvwF8 ) reports the incentives are intended to help pay for about $15 million in improvements the Louisville amusement park’s operators plan to make for the upcoming season.
Kentucky Tourism, Arts and Heritage Cabinet spokesman Gil Lawson says park operators are seeking the maximum 25 percent recovery of the planned $15 million investment.
The meeting Wednesday in Frankfort to give preliminary consideration. If final approval is given, park operators could reclaim up to $3.75 million over 10 years in the form of a rebate of state sales tax generated by the improvements.
