E. Ky. father charged with fatally shooting son

VIPER, Ky. (AP) — Police have charged an eastern Kentucky man in the fatal shooting of his adult son.

Kentucky State Police say Bernard Rice is facing a second-degree manslaughter charge in the shooting late Saturday at a residence in Perry County.

A statement from police says troopers arrived to find the body of 51-year-old Tommy Rice dead with a single gunshot wound to the head.

Police said their investigation found that an argument between the father and son escalated to a point where Bernard Rice retrieved his pistol and fired.

He is being held at Kentucky River Regional Jail. It wasn’t immediately clear whether he has an attorney.
