Clark County Couple Indicted For Copper Theft

A man suspected of stealing copper from light poles along several Kentucky highways is behind bars, but his wife is still on the run, according to officials.

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet said Aaron and Cindy Ferguson worked together to get the copper from lighting systems on at least 22 different occasions between April and November.

The Fergusons were both indicted by a Franklin County grand jury on Monday on 89 charges ranging from theft to criminal mischief.

According to police, a tip led them to surveillance footage of the couple in the process of stealing.

Upon further investigation, officials said between 12 and 15,000 feet of copper was found in the Ferguson’s backyard.

A $2,500 reward is currently being offered for any information leading to an arrest for anyone who helped the couple.

Tips can be texted confidentially to State Police at 67283.

The Transportation Cabinet noted that due to thefts over the last four years, the state has seen around $2 million in losses.
