Buyer Beware: Two Lexington Robberies Reportedly Tied To Craigslist

Lexington police warned the community Monday about two recent robberies that officers said were tied to Craigslist.

Investigators said in both cases, the victims had been interested in iPhones.

According to police, when the victims went to meet the so-called seller at an apartment complex on Elm Tree Lane, they were robbed.

In one of the cases, the suspect reportedly had a gun.

In the second robbery, the victim told police the suspect had implied he had a weapon, then stole the victim’s car.

Police had some safety tips for people who were using Craigslist.

Officers said it was important to learn as much as possible about the seller or buyer before a meeting took place.

Police said to make sure the sale was done locally, and only with cash.

Officers said it was important to meet in a familiar place where people would be around.

Police also recommended bringing a friend or family member to the sale.
