Eastern Kentucky man set for trial in slaying

An eastern Kentucky man charged with a 2011 slaying is set to face a jury while a co-defendant who pleaded guilty will face a judge for sentencing.

The Harlan Daily Enterprise reported that 38-year-old Timothy Turner’s trial is scheduled for Tuesday in Harlan Circuit Court.

The co-defendant, Rachel Osborne, is scheduled for sentencing that same day.

Prosecutors say Turner killed 58-year-old Stephen Gibson, who was found on June 2, 2011. Officers found Gibson inside his home while performing a welfare check.

Turner is charged with murder, two counts of theft by unlawful taking, first-degree robbery, kidnapping and second-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument.
