Sheriff: Three People Hurt In Crash Near Somerset

The Pulaski County Sheriff said three people were hurt Monday morning in a car crash outside of Somerset.

It happened around 9:30 at the intersection of Highway 1247 and U.S. 27 north of Science Hill.

Deputies said Robert Hyden, 86, Somerset, was headed south in a pickup on Highway 1247 when he failed to see oncoming traffic.

According to investigators, the truck pulled across the northbound lane of U.S. 27, and hit a Hyundai that was headed north.

Deputies said Hyden was airlifted to U.K. Hospital in Lexington.

The other driver was not hurt.

But deputies said two passengers in the Hyundai were taken to Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.
