Groups Look To Help Those In Need Before Thanksgiving

Thousands of Thanksgiving baskets were filled in a major outreach effort at God’s Pantry Food Bank.

More than 400 people helped fill the baskets as part of what was called Central Kentucky’s largest Thanksgiving assembly line.

It was the 11th annual Basket Brigade. The baskets will be distributed to Fayette County families in need of a nutritious holiday meal.

"Not only is it like a win-win situation, it’s fun, it’s super fun. You’ve got this great group of volunteers, great bunch of people. And you get a really nice box with all the tings you’d expect to see on Thanksgiving dinner," said one volunteer.

Those baskets will be shared with families on the 24th and 25th of this month.

Another effort took place at Clays Mill Road Baptist Church in Lexington. The church gave 100 families a Thanksgiving meal.

Each family got a 14 pound turkey, stuffing, vegetables, bread and a gallon of tea.
