Elliott Co. Schools Closed Because Of Flu Outbreak
School was cancelled Monday in Elliott County because of concerns over a flu outbreak.
The district said attendance last Friday had been about 86%.
It was usually about 95%.
And the district said it had received more reports of illnesses over the weekend.
Most of the cases involved the flu.
But there were also reports of stomach viruses and strep throat.
The district said it had more than a dozen faculty and staff members Monday who were also sick at home.
Schools would be closed Tuesday because of Veteran’s Day.
The superintendent said he would continue to monitor the outbreak before making a decision about school resuming on Wednesday.
