2 Louisville officers on leave after shooting

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) — Two Louisville police officers have been placed on administrative leave after they shot and killed a man during a confrontation.

Police say 38-year-old William Chad Mattingly fired at officers Rondall Carpenter and Skylar Graudick as he fled from them Tuesday night in the southern part of the city. The Courier-Journal reported (http://cjky.it/1tFUGSe ) Carpenter and Graudick shot back, killing Mattingly, who sustained multiple gunshot wounds.

Carpenter has been with the department since 2009. Graudick has been with the department since 2013. Police Chief Steve Conrad says both were unharmed in the shooting.

The Public Integrity Unit continues to investigate the incident.
