UK Cheerleader Released From Hospital Following Fall During Blue-White Scrimmage

There was a scary moment when a UK cheerleader fell during the first half of the Blue-White scrimmage Monday night in Rupp Arena.

Mercedes Laster, a junior from London, was placed on a hard board and fitted with a neck brace as a precaution before being taken from the arena to UK Hospital.

She was treated and released from the hospital that evening, according to the school.

A statement from the UK Athletics Department said Laster was appreciative of the thoughts and prayers from everyone in the Big Blue Nation (BBN) and thankful for the medical care she received at the arena and the hospital.

The statement went on to say that Laster looked forward to getting back to practice with her teammates soon as they seek their 21st national championship.
