State Police Announce Civilian Employee Of The Year
Walton-resident Dacia Wood was named KSP Civilian Employee of the Year. An eight-year veteran of the agency, Wood is a Police Telecommunications Shift Supervisor at KSP Post 6 in Dry Ridge.
Wood was recognized for excellence in performing her daily duties and a “service to others” attitude demonstrated by her actions on Dec. 23, 2013 when a woman came to Post 6 inquiring about the Shop with a Trooper program. Although the post had already completed the program for the holidays, Wood spent some time with the woman and identified what assistance she needed: a bicycle for her son and a warm coat for her daughter.
Organizing a last minute collection among post employees, Wood met the woman at Wal-Mart and purchased a bike, a coat and other various items the family needed. In addition to the money donated from post employees, she spent almost $100.00 dollars of her own money to give the family a good Christmas.
“This selfless act is a tribute to Dacia’s character and her belief in service to others. The mother was extremely appreciative and the family will forever know one important thing about the Kentucky State Police…..WE CARE,” said KSP Commissioner Rodney Brewer. “As an agency, we are fortunate to be supported by employees like Dacia and the others receiving awards this year.”
