Man shot during Winchester robbery dies
WINCHESTER, Ky. (AP) — A man shot during an attempted robbery at a truck stop along Interstate 64 has died.
The Fayette County Coroner’s office says 20-year-old Davon Marshall was pronounced dead Thursday night at the University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital.
Police were called Tuesday morning to a robbery at the 96 Truck Stop in the industrial park north of Interstate 64’s Exit 96.
Media reports say Marshall and 21-year-old Curtis Lloyd Wilkerson entered the truck stop and demanded money, one of them carried a gun. Authorities say the store’s owner shot Marshall, who was later found in a field and Wilkerson was subdued by employees.
The cause of Marshall’s death is pending an autopsy.
Wilkerson is charged with two counts of first-degree robbery and is being held in the Clark County jail.
