Juvenile Shot Across From Crowded Winchester Park

Winchester Police said that a juvenile was shot Thursday near a crowded park.

Investigators said it started with a domestic dispute near Harmon Field Park.

According to police, the shooter missed his intended target and hit a juvenile inside of a pickup truck.

Police said the injured juvenile drove a couple of blocks, then had a friend drive him to Clark Regional Medical Center.

Investigators said the victim’s injuries were not severe.

Meanwhile, there was a children’s football practice underway at the park when the shooting happened.

Some neighbors and concerned families said the area was usually a safe place for children.

Parent Justin Rawlins said, "It really does make me re-think bringing my kids over here to play. Usually I bring my stepdaughter up to the park and let her play on the swings and stuff sometimes. But now, I don’t even really feel safe doing that."

Police had not made an arrest in the shooting as of this writing.

But investigators said that they were checking into a possible suspect in the case.
