Food hub planned in Louisville
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) — An urban food hub — where locally grown produce could be processed, stored and distributed — is in the works for Louisville.
The Courier-Journal (http://cjky.it/1qiHFYm) reports Seed Capital Kentucky, which is the nonprofit developer of the hub, is seeking tax credits to fund a warehouse, commercial kitchen and officer space and well as negotiating final details with food and agriculture-related companies that may locate there.
Louisville Mayor Greg Fisher granted a 24-arce site in west Louisville this week to the developer. He says the move is to encourage more production and distribution of food that is locally grown, which will help the economy.
He called the Louisville Food Hub "a green job-generating machine for west Louisville."
