Fayette County School’s Task Force To Help Special Needs Students
This newly-formed task force hopes to dive deep into student issues according to Lu Young, Chief Academic Officer for Fayette County Public Schools.
The group will focus on services for students, their achievements and being efficient with resources.
The task force will be a group of 30 made up of administrators, teachers, parents and a former student.
At the meeting Thursday school principals will make recommendations for the teacher and administrator volunteers.
Young said the biggest challenge the district faces is the learning gap between traditional and special needs students.
This task force comes after $2 million dollars was initially cut from the special education budget for the school year.
That money has been placed in a reserve to be used as needed.
